When the Storms Come: A Season of Disruption and Opportunity at Saint Timothy’s

Dear friends,
Sometimes, the storms that pass over us leave behind more than puddles and windblown branches. Sometimes, they reveal what was hidden, expose what needs care, and call us to unexpected paths. That’s the case for us right now at Saint Timothy’s.
In the wake of recent severe weather, we’ve discovered significant water damage in our sanctuary building. A stained-glass panel was compromised, which allowed rain to enter and spread through the sacristy and ceiling area. That moisture—combined with our older HVAC system—has led to the growth of mold. After careful inspection, we’ve made the difficult decision to close the sanctuary temporarily to protect the health and safety of everyone who worships and serves here.
We are already working with professionals to assess the full extent of the damage and to develop a plan for cleanup, restoration, and renewal. It’s a process that will take time, resources, and much prayer—but we are not without hope.
Because here’s the silver lining: our mission has never been confined to one building. Just days before discovering the damage, Saint Timothy’s showed up joyfully and visibly at the Pauls Valley Pride Festival—offering prayer, welcome, and presence. That witness reminded us that the Church is alive whenever God’s people show up with open hearts and open hands.
So while our sanctuary may be quiet for now, Saint Timothy’s is far from closed. We will continue worshiping, praying, and serving—we will be meeting in the Parish Hall for now. As we know more, we’ll keep you informed along the way.
If you’ve been thinking of visiting, connecting, or returning, we’d love to hear from you. You are part of our story, and there is a place for you here—even in a season of disruption.
Please pray for us in this moment of transition. And if you’re able to support our restoration efforts in any way—whether through professional guidance, financial gifts, or simply helping us spread the word—we would be deeply grateful.
Let the Church rise—not just with hammers and fans, but with faith, courage, and love.
Grace and peace,
Saint Timothy’s Episcopal Church
